About Acadia Puffin Cruise

Set sail aboard the 40′ Tricia Clark, Maine’s original puffin boat. This is a two hour tour out of Pigeon Hill Bay to the stunning Petit Manan Island. During this tour, you will also experience the breathtaking views of the Petit Manan Wildlife Refuge and Bois Bubert Island. After the tour, we recommend hiking the boreal forest trails of Petit Manan Wildlife Refuge. This will give you a beautiful view of Petit Manan Island from ashore.

Petit Manan is home to a variety of seabirds and water-dwelling mammals, more notably the Atlantic Puffin. Other species you may see are Razorbills, Arctic Terns, Roseate Terns, Common Terns, Guillemots, Cormorants, Bald Eagles, Eiders, and a variety of gulls. There is also opportunity to see both Harbor and Gray Seals.

Petit Manan Lighthouse was constructed in 1857. The light is a conical granite tower, standing at 119 feet tall, making this the second tallest lighthouse in Maine. It is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. Petit Manan light is still in service today.

  1. Our Puffin cruise was a blast! A beautiful sunny day on the crystal blue water. The puffins are fascinating to watch with their unique football shape and beautiful colors. Many other fun birds to see (terns), and a great variety of ducks. The seals were abundant and entertaining to watch as you don’t know where they’ll pop up! Tricia is very informative and the tour was well worth it. You won’t be disappointed.

  2. What a fantastic experience. From Trisha to Betsy to Captain Steve, all were very friendly and helpful. The boat has a very clean head (bathroom), loaner binoculars, and snacks. The boat ride was smooth and the Captain managed to get the boat much closer than other tour boats to the puffins and seals. I would highly recommend this family for your small boat tour (no large crowds). Thanks again to the Brown family!

  3. This tour was a highlight of our week. Tricia graciously handled our reservation; Capt Steve provided us with an excellent view of puffins, seals, etc and shared his knowledge as we sailed. Betsy, our guide, provided many notes of interest and was welcoming throughout. The ship has nice clean bathroom facilities, complimentary use of binoculars, and snacks/water. Many thanks for a perfect puffin cruise. Highly recommend!

  4. Our cruise was the perfect experience for seeing Maine’s puffins and seals up close and personal. Betsy and Capt Steve were the best hosts, sharing lots of interesting facts.
